   I see a lot of people believe there is no way to have #privacy online. Corporations have pushed so hard that many are persuaded and disillusioned.

   Privacy-compliant alternative software exists and it's up to you to choose and promote it.

   Tracking tools are not required but wanted technologies: it is not something inevitable inside a software.

   When you see it that way, your approach to software change and you will also learn to love #ethical software as you know how to appreciate organic food.

     what are the top reasons people decide to use a specific software / network / social network?

     network effect (everybody uses it) and dopamin (getting a lot of attention is fun)?

     no. i didn't reply to the wrong post.

     then i tried to find out why people choose software/networks.

     my theorie is that its based on network effect and how that software makes them feel (dopamin release)

     do you think thats correct?

     @mk AFAIK #Mastodon is trying to fight this approach to social media engagement (you can see how favourite or boosts counters are hidden in your timeline).

     most people don't see any problems with big centralized tec. there is nothing obviously negative for them.

     @mk uh ok, I got it. But you are still open to choose by yourself and getting educated to select which platform fits best you ethics. I know network effects will play their hand but it’s all under your own control in the end.

     If I did it, anybody can do it.
