So today the Texas Senate passed a bill that would allow the governor to overturn elections in counties with more than 1 million residents. There are 6 such counties. 45% of Texans live in those counties, and 4 of the counties regularly vote Democratic. TX GOP isn’t even pretending to care about democracy; they know it works against them.

It boggles my mind that we have no effective, Constitutional method of blocking those who seek to undermine democracy from doing so. It appears our "god given, inalienable rights" mean nothing. Once the fascists are defeated (again) we're going to have to make sure the underpinnings of our nation, e.g. the right to vote, equal rights for all, etc., get codified into federal law in such a way as they will be forever protected. Anything less and we'll be fighting them continuously.
