My mum made a comment the other day because whenever she asks me how the project is going I reply with "doing paperwork for the grant" and said "but you said that 4 months ago" and I said "yes, I was doing it 4 months ago too"

  Being a software researcher means spending several dozens of hours going over funding documents and paperwork repeatedly.
