   (This is not a joke. Immediate availability of every consumer item requires massive overproduction and artificial demand to then sell off the resulting oversupply and all that shit needs to stop)

     @esther I always found it weird how obsessed some people have become with instant or next-day delivery.

     Like, I get it with stuff like medication, that should be as quick as possible for health reasons.

     But the vast majority of stuff people are ordering is, like, clothes, games, books, tech, etc...why do so many people need it *now*?

     @esther in UK when I was buying mail order electronic components as a kid it was 28 day delivery. In fact most consumer mail order was "within 28 days".

     Life was still good. It was actually exciting wondering each day if that thing would arrive.

     I still learned enough by building and soon designing electronics to get my dream job designing microprocessor systems.
