@miah Gosh, I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but yes, indeed, this is what happens when you have chickens. One of the first things I did with my second partner was bury his chickens after a fox got into the enclosure, so I know firsthand.

Miah Johnson (miah@hachyderm.io)'s status on Friday, 28-Apr-2023 00:14:05 JST Miah Johnson Went outside this morning to feed the flock. Saw a rooster lying in the driveway. Thats odd.. Then noticed feathers everywhere. Upon closer inspection it looks like a Racoon got him (he's headless).
Other hens feathers are sprawled about too, but all hens are accounted for and seem OK on first inspection.
He defended the flock. He did his job. He was a regal rooster. Queen Anne was his name.
