Sad to see both Chelsea Manning and Meredith Whittaker listed as speakers on a panel basically claiming that it's possible to "fix AI" using cryptocurrencies by making all the data in the world impossible to copy without paying for it first (making training AI on large/privacy-invasive datasets impossible).
An incredible exercise in ignoring _who_ gets to have privacy and _which_ data gets to be exploited.

(yes, I'm being somewhat uncharitable, but Nym is basically not going to help unless _all traffic in the world_ goes by it, which, uh, good luck. And it's a cryptocurrency that tries _so very hard_ to portray it as anything but a cryptocurrency, which i find quite dishonest)

@sqrt2 Exactly, and both PoS and PoW chains are inherently accumulative - those who have much will get even more. It's simple inherent market and capitalist logic, and there's afaict _no mechanism_ that even attempts to counteract that. Not in Nym, and not in basically any other cryptocurrency.

@pettter Somehow hardly anyone says it out loud, even though it's true and with PoS chains has even been made more explicit recently: public blockchains derive *all* their security from the fact that those who run one have a financial stake in the tokens it tracks. You cannot not be a cryptocurrency.
