Turning Mastodon into a gGmbH was the biggest mistake for the fediverse. I am reconsidering koyu.space as a whole now, because building something on external tech is a big problem.
@barning@T0xF01AE@chris@hedgiept@mk it's all fine, but Eugen is really making it harder to rebrand it to mitigate the gGmbH trademark problem and the change that mastodon.social is the defacto "default" doesn't help with the thought process of Mastodon being a "product" with a "CEO" that has to be "economically stable". I hate the direction where this is going. I'm not cool with that and I hope Eugen realizes that his role as "CEO" is not meant in a capitalist way. I also hope that there will be better server implementations than Misskey or Pleroma. Sure it's still free and open source software, but the "there's only Mastodon"-part kinda disturbs me.

what doesn't? that men with guns show up and demand your data?
..for people that still don't get it. the government isn't your buddy that you can trust. if you give them a little bit of rope they will fucking take your freedoms.
