You'd think with an image format that's half the size of a regular JPEG but with a lot more colour detail that it'd be more popular as a web format. Nowadays most phones support HDR content too so it'd be perfect for mobile content.

However!!! The MPEG group owns and has patented the HEIF format. So I can definitely see why browser vendors aren't queuing up to implement that.
