"Daddy," Daughter blinked her eyes. "Sun looks great today, doesn't it?"
"Well" You nodded, and considered how did you answer. "To be a good day, promise."
You scooped some water from the river onto your palm and washed your face.
"how do you do for fun? Boat riding, swimming, or fishing?"
You knew that she watched the clif and wanted to see over there.
You shook head, instead of saying no, gently.
It was too early to know this basin is the only place human can live.

@ewdocparris Wow! My first sunset on another world! Today was busy, settling in, so I didn’t get out of the new base much. I finally got a chance to just be, and it is amazing.

Of course, it turns out almost all of this beauty is lethal to us. Those plants will do a real number on your digestive system. And the “water”? Well, let’s just say it’s best not to dip a toe, or any part of your body you actually care about in it.

I’m not sure I want to encounter the wildlife.

"It almost looks like home.", Janet sighed.
Terry grinned, "That's why we're here."
"They didn't talk about this part in terraforming school.", she said.
      "What part is that?"
"The part where you spend 20 years of your life looking out of a window at a vista you can never enjoy without an environmental suit!"
      "Are you feeling alright, Janet?"
"I'm fine.", Janet said as the psych band on her bio-monitor slowly went back to green.

This is the most ambitious water project in the galaxy. The Romans built aqueducts 100's of miles long, even using reverse siphons across valleys. But this aqueduct is a stargate! The water is from Amphlibobius, in the Dilap sector, and is transported through the stargate here to Analaptis IV, a desert world.

Hey, don't go near! Watch out for those machines on the left! They destroy any life forms that come through the gate. Only water comes through. Watch your step! Oh no!

The vault was locked down for 500 years; 500 years to clear the infection. The AIs kept all the critical systems in perfect working order, waiting for this assigned time. A low, pulsing alarm sounded. The seed and DNA banks spun up and registered 100% preservation. The vault door slowly opened. AI's ran redundant analyses of the environment, and it was pristine, not a signal sign of humans anywhere in the hemisphere. Time for life to start again, time to renew the garden.
