I found my car battery had died, parked in a somewhat rough part of town. I stood beside it with jumper cables in my hand, and tried to catch the eye of folks passing by in their cars. Most wouldn't look at me.
Then a fellow in a van stopped and said, "Need a jump?"... and he helped me out.
I thanked him and offered him a few bucks afterwards. He said, "No way, buddy — just pay it forward!"
That was 35 years ago.
I still remember him. ❤️
