   @ardgedee that makes perfect sense, and it was also suggested by @hilljam a few minutes ago.

   I'm torn because I see the fallacy of my position, however there will be other Bandcamp Fridays and I'd rather put a temporary halt to purchases on the site because it sends a stronger signal. Emailing ethan@bandcamp.com also could drive some points home, maybe.

   I'll think about it. Please consider that I'm an artist too, on Bandcamp, so I double-get it. Thank you both for the counterpoint.

     @mxtthxw As long as we're living under capitalism, these specific types of inherent contradictions will remain ('good' companies that hold an important piece of the market being bought out by 'bad' companies). Until we achieve socialism and wide-spread disconnect from the profit motive and private ownership of the means of production, we can only do the best we can in the conditions we find ourselves in. @bandcampunited @mxv @m2m @ardgedee @hilljam

     If it gets to that stage, we lose our biggest income stream. Really hope you folks can sort it out!

     Would be good to know a plan be if Epic continue in their current direction.

     @m2m @ardgedee @hilljam As an artist & supporter of other indie artist / labels myself, I completely understand that any #Bandcamp #boycott is problematic. But on the other hand I strongly believe that any corporate-owned system is never going to improve in the long run, any gains from the #union will only be temporary (albeit very important to support) & that the only solution is an #open #decentralised alternative.
