      @vk6flab You love to see it. I once went from Atlanta, GA, USA to New Zealand, SSB, on 100W. Full fidelity of voice got through once the competing signals got out of the way. The op on the other end lectured everyone about how they didn't need to run all that power to be heard well and used me as proof. Amateur radio is just magic.

      @vk6flab 100W is kinda considered "bog standard" for a typical US station. I'm curious...on your sub 10W, how far away have you gotten on SSB?

      @roadriverrail whoa, high power :)

      My radio lives on 5 Watts, ever since I was told, over a decade ago, that my licence was a joke because it only permits 10 Watts. From Western Australia I've spoken to stations all over the globe, most of them whilst I was operating portable with either a vertical or a dipole.

      My WSPR experiments are about attempting to discover more about propagation and the various fairytales we've been taught.

      I'd encourage you to see where less than 100 Watts gets you!

      @vk6flab Wow! Honestly, after having had some bad luck in the past, I'd given up on the idea of SSB at those power levels. That's doubly so because all my past antenna installs were...serious compromises. When I get my next antenna hung (my last was destroyed by a landscaper), I'll have to try lower power.

      @roadriverrail I don't have my logs at hand, but Houston, Cuba, Sweden and Ukraine come to mind.
