     One take on this that I read was that he could have it both ways by spilling all, but decrying the injustice of being forced to testify.

     "The devil made me do it" plays well with religious cultists, and whining about the rule of law plays well with the twice-impeached racist misogynist fascist idiot mobster's cultists.

     If his presidential fantasies lead him to talk with a "the court made me do it" tone, that works.

     And if his courtroom demeanor is that of a reluctantly cooperating witness, rather than a disgruntled former minion, it's likely to play better for the jury.

     @georgetakei My take on this:

     Regardless of what legalities are involved in forcing Pence to testify regarding the insurrection, he remains bound by the oaths he took in Congress and as VP, with the latter reading as:
     "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
     Based on that oath, Pence has both a moral and ethical obligation to do "the best of my [his] ability" with respect to the investigation and prosecution of those who attack this country. That he hasn't done so marks him as someone whose word cannot be trusted and inherent supporter of the attack and attackers.

     so true. Nobody likes him on either side of the aisle. He was the Indiana Governor who would've lost his reelection bid there, but was helped out by the VP gig. He has to spill the truth or perish in history.
