     @Unixbigot @freakboy3742 Well, yes. Corporations are very slow AIs that are obligate sociopaths (in terms of human morality)—their incentive structure is inimical to humanist values.

     @Unixbigot @freakboy3742 I repeat, once more: the existence of a profitable business model does not mean we should confer legitimacy, or legality, on that business. (See also: child pornography, illegal narcotics.) That's a policy decision that should be considered in light of social policy and the commonweal. I do not believe Google's (or Twitter's, or FB's) ad revenue is a net positive for the public realm: on the contrary, I think they're toxic and I'd like to see them banned.

     @cstross @freakboy3742 We agree. I didn’t mean they were OK, but that it’s impossible to even expect them to be OK; their entire business structure motivates them to maximize evil.
