@dave@gleasonator.com that guy is a dumbass because modern airline costs are entirely dictated by efficiency, but there is a decent amount of serious research going into ways to reduce the noise from supersonic flight.
The results from those tests will be used to see if the rules on supersonic commercial flights can be relaxed, although it probably still won't be worth it because not enough rich fucks need to travel so quickly with how easy it is to jump on a video call.
