? My favourite genre is science fiction, but what I really enjoy is reading about very different societies and their struggles.

I love to read science fiction where the technology is not the primary topic, but where the fancy technology creates a new society that has issues worth exploring, beyond “pew pew they're the baddies and we have spaceships and lasers”.

I’m currently reading Ursula Le Guin’s “The Dispossessed”, and I’m looking for more!

    ? Boosts and recommendations welcome!

@thibaultamartin I can highly recommend Ancillary Justice and its sequels by Ann Leckie, which explores both empire and fascism, as well as various ideas of identity and personhood, with a smattering of Gender Thougts as well.

@thibaultamartin On a similar theme I also enjoyed A Memory Called Empire/A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine which also does a lot of exploration of nationhood, empire, belonging and such things.

@thibaultamartin Oh, also if you haven't read The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin (starting with the Fifth Season) then those are also very good imo.

@thurisaz @thibaultamartin Terra Ignota would've been my next suggestion! The other two I haven't read, but will put them up on my list :)

@pettter @thibaultamartin I'll second all of those recommendations and also add the 'Terra Ignota' series by Ada Palmer, 'A Half-Built Garden' by Ruthanna Emrys, and 'Ancestral Night' by Elizabeth Bear.
