Don't forget that the deadline to submit a track to FOSSY is this Sunday! I'm so excited at how this is shaping up, we'd love for you to be a part of it!
Edited to add: I should note, Karen and I did have a great conversation a while back!
I feel confident about the direction her and the other FOSSY organizers are thinking. And I am likewise eager to see a policy codified on the sooner side, definitely critical to have that available for prospective participants to inform decision making.
@karen@christi3k Karen: Speak to @josh and @phpledge regarding the Safety Policy - the Public Health Pledge team have been helping events for months now.
If you're serious about safety, you're leaving this rather late in the process.
The policy should really be considered *first* before deciding to 1) run the conference or 2) choose the venue.
It certainly needs to be in place before calling for anyone to participate, as without it how can anyone decide to commit?
@christi3k Not yet! We're working on it and actively reaching out to other conferences to hear what they did and how it worked out (and how they budgeted for what they did - we're just getting started with sponsors) but we also wanted to give ample time for input from track organizers. If there are items in a covid policy that would essential for you to run a track or if you just have a strong recommendation, we would be so grateful for you to note that in the proposal.
@karen have you published a COVID/health safety plan yet? That info is gonna determine if certain folks (like myself) are able to attend/contribute. I did a quick search and didn’t find anything.
