   Bus factor is key. For a project's longevity, broad contributions are more important than a single rockstar's achievements, even more important than short-term code quality (which the rockstar may or may not care about, depending on the type of rockstar).

     To anyone who is interested in community governance who hasn't read the annotated C4[0] and listened to "A protocol for dying"[1] (warning: that's actual dying and it's discussed in depth in addition to community governance – it was Hintjens's last interview and he knew that it was), I highly recommend you to do so.
