overi like josh i watched his every stream since stream. me without him i probably wouldnt even know the extend of the troon influence in modern media/society cant understand why hes always shitting on graf, yes its poast and not a kiwifarms instance sorry its not 100% to your liking
@PunishedD@over its entirely in the US and subject to US law. we are not subject to canadian or european laws regarding free speech. we are beholden to the united states and Sao Tome and Principe with regards to our domain
@over I don't have an issue with him and I used to speak with him at length privately. he decided to try to shit on me for how I run poast and I told him if he didn't like how I handle user data to get the fuck off poast. because that's what a sane person would do. guess he took it to heart. don't personally give a fuck anymore
@graf@over It wasn't that he didn't like how you're running it, he was asking how you ran it.
Josh regularly gets user info demands from New Zealand police, UK courts, and censorship agencies from France, Germany, and Russia. (The ones I can remember off hand, probably more.) The response is always "KF is a US-legal website subject to US laws, fuck off".
Which makes for epic email postings, but the flip side is he does comply with US court orders and certain agency requests. Fedposters have been handed over to the FBI, last-connected IP addresses included, because they're one of the few agencies that can cause KF trouble.
Josh has said multiple times the reason he doesn't move his company or site is because the US, shit as it is, still has better free speech laws than other countries. Which is why he was asking, if someone came for Poast's data (and they will eventually), is it residing under US law, or Canadian, or both? What if an EU country sends a demand?
