When Ueno was sold to Twitter, #Halli could have taken payment in stock or other financial instruments, which get very low tax rates in Iceland. he chose instead to remain employed so that he'd contribute to the general welfare, "having spoken publicly on many occasions about the benefits he has received from the Icelandic social system," and became one of the highest tax payers in the nation.
