Off to see Mädchen in Uniform soon! This #Weimar era film from 1931 is a wonderful example of Weimar's #queer #cinema that was so brutally surpressed and erased by the Nazi's who attempted to burn all copies of it to stop it's #lesbian and anti-authoritarian message. I've been meaning to see this for years.

I did see one of the modern films inspired by it, Loving Annabelle, which the age gap did concern the hell out of me. It's something of a #sapphic story cliché to have a big age gap and this is a very early example of that. Anyone looked at the origins of that cliché?
