   Anyone else get a bit uncomfortable when people start gossiping around you about someone else? Even if you don't know who they are talking about???

     Yep. Gossip tells me about the people talking as much as it does their subject. It also tells me that they're talking about me when I'm not around, and I don't trust them as much.

     It depends on who is gossiping I think and the situation. My wife and her sister gossip and I could care less. Loose gossip at work can and has cost people their jobs, so I refrain and discourage people under me from gossiping.

     @Mrfunkedude When the gossip is even remotely mean-spirited, I usually respond skeptically, which tends to discourage the gossipy types from bringing up that crap around me. They don’t like to tell me gossip if they know I won’t believe it! But I’ll admit: If I know the subject of the gossip to be a pretty awful person, I don’t shut it down, although I probably should.
