en arkeolog har dumpet leire fra bjørvika på kontoret mitt. fra det de kaller "marine masser". tror ikke det ordet har samme betydning for arkeologer og keramikere...
punkt en: det smaker ikke salt

is there a #geologist here? need some help:
quick clay is a process that happens when saltwater in clay is replaced by freshwater. takes hundreds/thousands of years? liquefaction of the clay = landslides.
this particular one happen around year 1390-1400, sent the stuff back into the ocean.
Q: will the freshwater in the clay become replaced by saltwater again? or is the freshwater "locked"?
this stuff doesn't taste salty. (don't you roll your eyes at me, rockhound, i know you lick rocks)
vi skal visstnok reprodusere tidsriktige artefakter. dette kommer til å gå fint.
english: an archeologist dumped some clay in my office, from a site in Oslo, and he wants to recreate some period artefacts.
apparently, it comes from "marine strata", and when an archeologist says that, it could mean anything.
the plasticity is great, the colour consistent with "norwegian blue" – but the firing temperatures. ah. that'll be a wild ride
