You’re not wrong, but there can be more than one solution to big tech. Just like Web2 has multiple boards with Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. the new Web can have multiple distributed protocols. I don’t think ActivityPub is going anywhere after all, Cloudflare is going all in on it.

is it time to ignore the spent cost on bluesky and go all in on nostr?

Nah. They have a long runway

damn, real spent cost, oh well we will know if that is a path or not soon, to me it is basically activitypub and nostr is a better idea than that

Yes.
Both will bring ideas up that may cross pollinate.
But I def prefer the nostr dev model.

I’ve been on Bluesky for two days now. It’s nice, but kinda quiet. Just crossed 1000 users today.
Onboarding is simple, setting up a profile is easy, and finding people to follow is quick and intuitive. Past that it’s definitely lacking functionality in plenty of ways, but everything that is included so far works and is very smooth.
That said, it is completely lacking the spark of this community. Nostr felt special even before zaps, but now I can’t imagine a new social media experience succeeding without that functionality.
I’m excited to see how both grow and at one point was eagerly awaiting Bluesky, but Nostr’s organic evolution and speed of development with community influence has been unlike anything I’ve seen since the earliest days of the web.
