   i wonder how the jubilee worked in practice (maybe not at all). Seems like interest rates would go up and up the closer you'd get to the jubilee date.

     I'm pretty sure most of the debts were owed in the form of labor. There was that one guy in the Bible who worked for 7 years, the max allowed, to marry one lady, but got tricked into marrying her older sister, and then he went back to work for another 7 years and finally got to marry the lady he wanted all along.

     Modern man has no idea how bad things were in the past.
