There’s a limitation in Mastodon where if your avatar or banner is larger than 1MB it will drop them. Therefore some Mostr users won’t have avatars on Mastdodon.

I guess I'll have to do what I do on 4ch where I just leave the windows of threads where I'm talking open. -

To make it really usable we have to build services on top of it similar to the current Fediverse. The only problem is what to do about the private key.

Nostr is 10x easier. You can integrate it into a blog like it’s nothing. This is the dream people had for Mastodon in the beginning, that we would federate everything. That dream is actually possible on Nostr. But a specification isn’t enough - the past few months the community has proved that Nostr is viable by developing real software for it. So yes, it’s more viable because it’s easier, and because it has a large developer base that is constantly growing. This is simply not seen on ActivityPub.

Salastil (salastil@pleroma.salastil.com)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Feb-2023 08:07:02 JST Salastil Given you have some practical experience with Nostr now do you think its possible for each Mastodon/Pleroma/Rebased/Akkomo etc instance to have the ability to ingest and communicate with Nostr? Kinda like when oStatus and ActivityPub existed at the same time. -

Salastil (salastil@pleroma.salastil.com)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Feb-2023 08:19:20 JST Salastil I don't mean a single point of entry via a bridge. I mean each individual instance will interface with Nostr and any other protocol seamlessly. The (partially intentional) problem with BirdSiteLive was that it was bound by the API limits and read only so Twitter wasn't able to flood the Fediverse. Everyone had to cram onto just a few BSL instances to get news feed accounts or their e-wafiu dripfeed and this caused a lot of problems. -
