@torb Having to squint and crane your neck is not a good thing. 1) My eyes are at the middle of the screen. 2) Why do I have to turn the zoom level up to 150% for any and all search engines to be readable?
@forteller It’s one of the UIs that’s still simple, focused and not overloaded with a million columns. That’s a good thing.
@mtjm I'm thinking the alternative is a readable size on the text, based on the size of your screen, and having the column in the middle of the screen. I agree wide columns are bad.
I don't know how Bing does it.
@forteller The alternative, assuming you have a correct font size set in your system, is a multicolumn view (which also doesn't work with scrolling). Wider columns are hard to read, and too big letters (imagine a feature phone screen scaled to a desktop screen size) are hard too.
But for me the Bing page looking like an AI-level collage of random interpretations of the query and other browsers just having a full screen of spam before any relevant results is a bad enough UI.
