  Iris from the beta iOS App Store is just a pwa web app. Just as bad as Iris.to

  Did you notice when you upload on Iris, it pastes a nostr.build url for the image and then quickly displays the image instead of the url?

  Yea so Iris send images to nostr.build and they store and proxy them , not the relay .

  It’s not like fedi where instances store posts and uploads.
  
  Relays only store posts and user info,. Text stuff
  
  Many clients don’t even do uploads for most or except iris, which integrates nostr.build for uploads/media proxy f

  I don’t think you’re getting it. Someone could post an image from their server and get my ip. Iris prevents that by proxying it.

  This has nothing to do with uploads on iris. I’m not just making this up, it’s mentioned on the iris GitHub. If you post a link to an image on poster place, my app will get it and you’ll have my ip.

  Nostr don’t store uploads so they won’t get your ip. Remember, I said that Iris uploads images to nostr.build as soon as you click attach. This is all done client side. Try it and watch what it does closely. It shows the upload url from nostr.build and quickly hides it and shows your image from their proxy
