:blobcathug:ah yes... a creator complains about the 7900 XT... Main arguments are the cutting software crashes and sometimes windows too and with an Nvidia Card it didnt... its more likely be the boards fault... crashes without bluescreens arent really related to the software and cards, especially when the GPU run fine under different systems
@kura :blobcatgoogly: so if a software wants to access cuda and cant because there is an AMD Card it might crash the software yes but it doesnt crash the system or leads to a bluescreen... what makes you think that accessing cuda leads to hard resets?
@kura lets say it differently... according to my knowledge with tech it is most likely not the GPU itself... i might be wrong but i point my fingers to the board...
but i hate when peoples just blame random things... replacing a GPU might solve the situation but it doesnt proof that the GPU is the issue
@Jain@blob.cat It could be anything, really. I didn't hear too many good things about the 7900 XT, honestly. But without proper reports, nobody can reach a proper conclusion.
Blue screens can be caused by software issues, mainly driver issues. But problems in the GPU itself can cause them as well. This must be accompanied with a proper report, of course. Just saying "my nvidia didn't do that" doesn't tell us anything and most likely comes as an implicit sponsorship.
@kura@enigmatico maybe im just pissed because i dont like Nvidia, i think i have more knowledge than this creator or because i do own such a card and never had issues even after hours of intense ussage, even with gaming in combination with windows..
@Jain@blob.cat@kura@z0ne.social It really can be a lot of things, if it is a generic crash without a bugcheck. I actually used to have a lot of driver crashes with my RX 580 for some reason, and this is a well known card. I remember Shadow of the Tomb Raider and PSO2NGS gave me the most troubles. But also sometimes just using Photoshop with hardware acceleration could cause a crash. Haven't had one in a long time though, although I don't play as much anymore.
