   Why do people say "the fedi" anyway? You don't say THE TWITTER not THE INSTAGRAM never THE FACEBOOK even though they got names like insta for Instagram and face for Facebook still no one does

     Probably because of all the instances that communicate with each other vs one Twitter, one Facebook, one Instagram, etc.
