@lain@lain.com it's real. They went from a working algorithm to stupid machine learning whatever. And also trash SEO leading to trash results

@lain yeah it's not just you. Google started declining steadily in 2016 and in 2021 went into a massive freefall. I usually don't even bother with it now unless I've exhausted all other options.

@lain it seems like pretty much all major search providers killed their reverse image search too, no idea why since that was the only reason I would ever use google

@lain For people who never really invested in the "search engine usage" skillset, maybe it has gotten better, I'm not sure. But as someone who used to be great at crafting my search prompts to get exactly what I needed, yeah. It's trash now. It seems to be guessing too much as to what it thinks I want, it's fighting my prompts all the time instead of following them.

@lain definitely seeing the same thing and i believe i'm not only just now noticing it because a few other people are talking about it. it has gotten worse in my day to day usage and more frequently it's not finding a suitable result no matter what i try, an outcome that used to be rare.

maybe finding nothing is preferable to finding those shitty ad spouting "10 reasons your R code is wrong" articles (number 3 will shock you)

@lain I get stuff on google but a lot of it is personalised to my country so I have to skip those results

Also have had to try multiple search engines a lot more than normal (normally use ddg)
