   @ovid I've had ChatGPT write snippets, but they aren't really reliable.

   For example it absolutely got the API of pythons ast module wrong (which to be fair, is likely a result of the documentation). It did however point me in the right direction to solve the problem I was working on.

   But, crucially, I haven't seen it do any actual software *engineering*.

     @phryk @ovid interestingly, you can often get it to fix the code by just telling it what it did wrong and posting the docs at it

     @lain In the AST case I tried for about half an hour but it just kept adding new subtle errors that exploded when actually running the code.^^
