@xue @Moon @jeffcliff you have to specifically run a node if you want a node. otherwise its just a client. and the clients typically just call home to a web server to find anything. (they are basically all light wallets calling obelisk servers constantly.)
there are lbry nodes which hold and serve the data files and lbry nodes which hold and serve the lease chain. what lbry's web services do is they use the nodes they already run to update a database of content so you can do easy web queries rather than watching the blockchain yourself.
it's replacable, but nobody wants to, they just wanna whine that the clients use a "centralized" service.
but no, *none of the clients serve content* it is not a p2p system. -

@xue @Moon @jeffcliff no. odyssey is a web client to lbry. You can download desktop software and it will either connect to odyssey or generate local keys. But even the desktop software makes calls to their server for the search functions.
Lbry is not peer to peer. People have to set up nodes to specifically host files. -
