The telling thing about people who keep saying "gpt will make X obsolete" is that they always hypothetically apply it to problems that they have mentally trivialized.

project managers: I can just get gpt to generate the code and not have to deal with those pesky engineers!!!

engineers: gpt can never be trusted to write code, but it could just generate my docs and tests!!!

bad engineers: gpt is way faster than pasting code snippets from stack overflow!!!
