     It is not about this.
     It is about freedom.
     And, Steam is not the only platform Skyrim exists on.

     What about GOG version? Since it does Steam checks, what then?

     And on topic of piracy, it is an important thing. Denuvo is such a pain, that often pirated version is plainly better experience than legal one lmaoo

     And then, piracy opens up the preservation of the software itself.

     Big games, piracy won't make a difference anyway.

     Indie games, yeah, best to support the dev.

     No, gimp is trash and a perfect example of how the “free” model doesn’t work. There’s a line of products called affinity photo, designer, and publisher which are close enough to Adobe products for non-professionals. They’re like $50 each, half that on sale.
