     I prefer Soapbox as a frontend but they are unwilling to work with @alex to get things working due to not agreeing with his views on particular subjects. Could probably say the same with Pleroma devs but at least things are working again.

     PleromaFE is hideous anyways, so I don't blame anybody not contributing to it. I'd rather see the default FE replaced. Sorry about your experience. All of my interactions with him have been nothing but pleasant and helpful, so that's what I base my opinion of him on. Most of the hate towards him that I see, seem to be because of not acknowledging trans women as truly being women, etc. being attacked for that view and responding. I don't see everything behind the scenes tho and don't really care anyways. I enjoy his work.

     @jawsh @alex @Moon all i can say is that alex threw a fit over "you don't like my solution, it has to be my solution or nothing i'm not gonna do anything about it", i've seen him personally and openly insult fellow developer in pleroma gitlab thread, i've seen him verbatim say "fuck you" in pleroma gitlab thread, and I've been personally... i don't even know how to put it into words, basically he used me as an argument to defend his position, against my will, and when I objected to it it turned out he donated on my patreon several months ago, without my explicit knowledge of it, and implied that somehow, voluntarily donation without contract "hey do this work for me, i'll pay you for it", is him paying me to do some work for him which justified him using my voluntary work I did without even thinking about him, to defend him. Like even putting it into words is fucking weird, man.
     
     It's all personal opinions really, but the point is - he's still able to contribute technically, and even before he was stripped of "maintaner" role he was able to, but the rest of the people working with him found him to be insufferable, which cost him his role and later access, and instead of making amends he just made it worse, just so that he could throw an even bigger fit.
     
     I'm sure he's a great developer, and I've seen that he has... more skill than average people (unfortunately he hasn't been contributing to PleromaFE much where I reside the most so I can't say for sure), but contrary to what he says that "Open source is collaborative effort" or whatever, collabbing with him is pure pain (and pure pain accessories)

     my opinion of him (and anybody else) is formed solely on my interactions and treatment by him. I don't claim to be an Alex expert but I've witnessed countless similar interactions.

     @jawsh @alex @Moon nobody is really putting their personal opinions hard into dev work... except for alex. He's been quite literally insulting other developers left and right which is what gotten him banned on the gitlab. Instead of making amends and trying to cooperate he threw a fit, and appears to be still butthurt over it.

     @hj I just think personal opinions are best left out of development, it takes choices away from end users. The issue Alex opened should have been between backend and frontend compatibility. Not a "I don't like your views, sorry" situation. Regardless, I should have never switched to an alpha backend anyways. At least not dor my main account.
