     救助隊は、トルコとシリアの広い地域にわたる地震による死者数が5,000人を超えたため、「時間とのレース」で崩壊した建物の瓦礫から人々を掘り出すのに苦労している。マグニチュード7.8の地震は、1999年以来トルコで最悪のものだった。
