@sl007 a lot of towns in Quebec were combined into agglomerated cities in the early 2000s. So that might be what you're seeing.

I have got a question re. Canada.
Mapped geonames, OSM and wikidata for an ActivityVocabulary Collection (Atlas).
Amongst the 1.4 mio. places there is a small confusion about Administrative Level 2 in Alberta and Ontario.
Either geonames or wikidata is wrong.
Can Cities have an Admin 2 Level?Example (1/40)
geonames says both are ADM2
county
