there's lots of discussion about how accurate climate models are, but nearly no discussions about the economic models that are used to justify the response. For example, you could reduce car deaths to zero by outlawing all cars, but the costs would outweigh the risks (at least in the mind of most people. If this example doesn't strike you as correct, you can come up with your own one).
Both the climate models and the economic models must be sound to have a sensible idea about how to act.-

@deadheat while i think so too, this should still be something that the average person keeps in mind when thinking about the topic. -

@lain The people taking the decisions don't care about sensible models because they don't have sensible goals in mind, the WEF putting their dystopian plans for the world on their website pretty much made this clear for everyone to see. -

@lain Recently some friends of mine told me they support the idea of an allocation of travel KM people are allowed in a year that a political party suggested.
I think it's impossible to get people to think about economics at all if they've had drilled into their head that barring totalitarian, top-down solutions everyone is imminently about to die and no one's preferences will matter.lainy likes this. -

@grillchen sounds like everybody is very sensible, except the public and the people actually deciding it. -

That is very much untrue, the Club of Rome, among the first organizations to warn about the effects of climate change, has put out precise economic simulations of implementations about green growth or degrowth.
