This is a personal observation and perhaps it's only me. I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts with daily episodes. I'm somewhat mindful of the length of the recording and the file size.
I noticed a trend since early December of episodes going from roughly 1MB per minute to well over 2MB.
My guess is that the podcasters aren't changing the recording but that the ad breaks are causing the file size to swell. But there's maybe five minutes of ad content creating that much bloat?
Any thoughts?
