   i'm the interim director of the Center for Applied Data Ethics (CADE) at the University of San Francisco (USF)

   i think/write/talk about AI harms using historical & social lenses

   a common refrain in tech is that <new thing> is novel and even incomparable to anything before it; i work to disprove that

   in showing how we can frame gig work as piecework, or AIs as street-level bureaucrats, i try to plant seeds of resistance to ostensibly novel oppression rooted in familiar soil
