Article is a bit outdated, but I stand by that aspect of it at least.
The trans story is that “we’re just minding our own business being cross-dressers in public, and some angry insecure man becomes sexually confused and kills us.”
A convincing story, but the reality is that this simply doesn’t happen, at least not in America.
There is no epidemic. There is no increase in violence against trans people. In fact, the opposite is true for men who become women. Women who become men, on the other hand, face increased risk.
@alex@meso@Morbidemoness i looked into this and most of the deaths were related to sex work. not detached from possibly being forced into that dangerous work by discrimination for being trans, kicked out of their house by family, etc.
@Moon@meso@Morbidemoness And I’ll point out again, that the whole reason I’m cancelled, the whole reason that SOAPBOX is not allowed to exist, the reason I got banned from the Pleroma dev community and Mastodon refuses to touch me, is because OF POINTING OUT TRUE FACTS THAT I AM RIGHT ABOUT.
@meso@Moon@Morbidemoness Because of clawing my way through. Any reasonable person would have given up by now, but I have a fire in my heart that I cannot stop.
@alex@meso@Morbidemoness I suspect, excluding suicide, you are far less likely to die violently being trans than being a sex worker. But I don't know. I won't state it as a fact.
there are also racial implications to the trans people dying when you look at their race and the race of the attacker (when known) that probably impacts the numbers.
@alex@meso@Morbidemoness my impression is that you are canceled isn't because of facts but because from the trans people perspective it is a matter of life and death if they are supported or criticized. I don't question the sincerity of some people that believe this, they see trans criticism as directly resulting in trans deaths.
@alex@Morbidemoness@meso personally speaking i have some misgivings about aspects of trans stuff but their humanity is not in question and i understand the deep need for dignity and inclusion in society. i now have many trans friends and i won't hurt them if i can at all help it. whatever reason there's so many now, they're here and exist.
@Moon@meso@Morbidemoness I completely agree. Couldn’t agree more. And all the cool trannies still talk to me. It’s the babies with a victim complex and their white knights that are my biggest problem. They go into the conversation wanting to be the victim, and start making shit up so that you can be the perpetrator. There’s no winning that. Then the influence of that insanity spreads somehow, people take it at face value, and before you know it you’re blacklisted from everything because you refused to back down.
People need to start getting braver before we relieve the Chinese Cultural Revolution in America. Oh wait, we already are.
@alex@meso@Morbidemoness This comes up every "Trans Day of Rememberance" over on KF. The math is always the same, trannies are the least murdered cohort in almost every trackable demographic.
@alex@meso@Morbidemoness most of the trans people i know (not all) obviously have political positions related to trans issues but a i'm not keen on the "queer identity implies revolutionary politics" lol no it doesn't, if you think it does you only associate with other trans people you agree with. in addition to the tons and tons of "4chan trannies" that believe all kinds of crazy shit, theres just like, people living normal lives in society going to their job and paying taxes and enjoying a play on the weekend sometimes or whatever. I am related to some.
@feld@meso@alex@Morbidemoness let's be honest though there are people on here that hate you because 1. they don't know you and 2. they believe and/or spread lies about you. which is a thing tbhat happens to people on this network with distressing regularity
@alex haha! This is like all the new schools in India naming themselves St. Joseph and other very Catholic sounding names because even though Christians only make up like 10% of the population, the Church has provided the Majority of education for over a century so people assume its good and established.
No because caring about society at my own expense to the point of death - not out of valor or bravery but because of the opinions of others - is retarded.
@josh@meso@alex@Morbidemoness i don't think so, its personal for them so the factualness doesn't factor. imagine a logical argument for why its good for society for you to kill yourself. are you going to do it?
