The only reason I can think of is that people love surrendering their freedom to proprietary software so much that all it takes is a single group on x topic for them to use "Discord".

  @sotolf Why do peole use Discord anyway? There is no privacy involved in this software, so its just bad for exchanging information on a private level from the ground up. But most people are using this for private groups.

  Why do people keep using #discord and #matrix for documentation and such, it's such a bad way, none of the information is easily found the interfaces are really slow, and it's generally a suboptimal experience.
