   Gargron single-handedly revitalized the Fediverse.
   
   And I do mean single-handedly, you see a lot of other people given credit for like uh, just being present and doing things, but he flooded the network with new servers and people before basically anybody else was helping him.

     The second most influential person/project on the current Fediverse is/was @lain and Pleroma. Because it made it possible for people with less money and means to run a Fediverse server than a full-fledged bulky mastodon instance.
