So what I'm saying is, teach coding in schools, not because it will help kids get jobs when they grow up. Teach it as a liberal art.

I hate the STEM Uber Alles attitude and think it's a threat to public education and by extension the fabric of society, 100%. At the same time, not knowing how to code feels like a kind of illiteracy to me. Not because I want to do it professionally necessarily, but because I have so many ideas I can't just go ahead and make. It feels like my capacity for expression is stunted.
