   You are many to ask what that "target/GPS" icon means in threads.
   It simply displays the thread on the remote instance with the public API. So you can see all replies especially the ones not known by your instance.
   If you interact on a reply, Fedilab will do everything in background so your instance will know that reply you are interacting with.

     Yes, it's particularly more helpful with small/medium instances.

     That explains why it didn't seem to do much when I tried, my instance knew about all the replies so nothing changed

     We picked up GPS icon because it targets a different place. It would need a custom icon though.

     For most of people this icon is "activate GPS and locate me". So it should be another icon (I don't know what).
