     @alex Mastodon is a DDOS disaster for any site that has to do complex rendering.

     @brianoflondon Maybe someone should create a “Don’t Fedi-DDoS Me” WordPress plugin where if the User-Agent is Mastodon it just serves a cached card.

     @alex Mastodongers made jort.link to mitigate that issue, but the problem won't go anywhere anytime soon. I just started returning 444 to any "Bot" useragents for a service I host, really helps with traffic.
