A screencast of the dash. There is a post by a user on the bottom of the visible portion of the dash and the same post with another user's comment above it. I hover the cursor over the "like" button before clicking it. This causes the usual behaviors: an update of the notification counter for the user and a notification in the side panel of this newest notification. But, most importantly, it causes both instances of the post on the dash to change their "like" buttons to indicating that the post was liked by someone.

A small change but one that definitely helps the user experience; the last month has still been hectic but there are a few easy, low-level changes I can make to keep things going so that's what I'm aiming for.
I try to reduce JavaScript use as much as is (reasonably) feasible but there are just some experiences to social media you're going to expect – like not reloading a page every time you like a post.
Currently, this just updates the icon on the post
