   My institution had a painful case study: a controversial art exhibit made it all the way to the opinion page of the NYT, with the actual (fascinating, painful, nuanced, difficult) facts of the matter utterly lost in the noise. In all the public yelling over fictional problems, real ones were lost and left unresolved.

   Time to try an #introduction, I think.

   My name's Paul Martin, but I generally go by the handle 'Ravanon' online. I'm a former researcher with a PhD in Informatics trying to transition into becoming a #author, wondering about my poor life decisions. I'm also a digital #artist, albeit I don't consider it my day job. Still, it's what I have mostly to show for myself, so I suppose here in the fediverse I'm an artist?

   @clacke It's almost as if the problem isn't what they think.

   My view is that computers do what we say. Exactly. And only one thing at a time.

   Translating between natural language and that kind of domain is a job, regardless of language or tooling.
