   22 months ago, Ron DeSantis went full MAGA on COVID, banning local precautions, downplaying the risk of a summer surge in Florida (which turned out to be the nation's worst), and heading down a path that led him to hire an anti-vaxxer as the state's Surgeon General.

   Before DeSantis went full MAGA on COVID in May 2021, Florida's COVID death rate was close to the national average.

   Since then, it's been the nation's 4th highest.
